The safest cot buys for your new baby should include a firm kind of mattress. Newborn babies cannot lift up their heads, so if squashed into a soft mattress won't be able to move into a clear comfortable position. When buying a moses basket, make sure the handles are attached firmly and that the basket itself has undergone treatment for fire resistance.
