Baby clothing, unique baby clothes & sizes

Clothes for tiny people

Planning for your new baby can be enormous fun, especially choosing the baby clothes she'll one day wear. Take advantage of these early years to indulge your baby clothing desires – won’t be long before your toddler has a very firm opinion of what to wear!

Many new parents find themselves inundated with baby clothes presented by friends and relatives towards the end of a pregnancy, especially really tiny baby clothing intended for newborns. While this kind of baby gift is helpful, nothing beats looking through delightful outfits of baby clothing yourself.

It's a wonderful experience choosing the clothes you think will look the sweetest and be the most comfortable for your new baby. At The Baby Show, there will be a huge variety of all kinds of beautiful baby clothing available to choose from.

What size baby clothes?

Babies grow very fast. It is best to buy a few items of really small baby clothes, and then take time to find lots of different sizes as your baby grows. The traditional advice of "two for airing, two for wearing and two for the wash" is just not enough these days.

Once you're sure of the size which fits your baby correctly, you can really go to town. Come along to one of The Baby Shows where you'll find many companies offering a huge variety of top quality baby clothing, baby shoes, baby dresses and more, all in a variety of different sizes. Book tickets now.

Think ahead, as your friends and family are likely to concentrate on newborn and up to three months when they make a baby gift of clothing. You’ll get more use out of age three to six months and six to twelve months clothes as you are likely to be given less of them! Don’t forget the seasons though, a superwarm snowsuit needs to fit in winter, not summer.

The Baby Show has all kinds of interesting clothing products to try out, from baby wraps to comfy fleeces.

Comfy clothing and Unique babyclothes

Comfy clothing

It's important to make sure your baby clothing is both comfortable and protective. A baby's skin is very sensitive to temperature and climate, so you'll need to shield her from the sun making sure she doesn't get too warm, and also protect her from the cold ensuring she doesn't get uncomfortably chilly.

Wrapping your baby in different layers is a good idea, so layers can be taken off, or added according to the temperature outside or inside. Soft, lightweight cotton fabrics make ideal baby clothes. They allow the baby's body to breathe and will rarely irritate or itch.

Your new baby will spend much of the time sleeping. Simple clothes without a lot of seams, ridges, frills and elastic will help her stay warm and comfortable. Sleeping garments with fitted feet should allow plenty of room for baby's feet to wiggle and grow.

Unique baby clothes

Be careful if you're buying a special outfit for baby that these considerations are still adhered to. Sometimes elastic can be too tight around the arms or ankles; watch out for scratchy logos or restricting shapes. Unique baby clothes are often beautiful to look at but make sure they are also comfortable for baby to wear.

If you want to find a particular outfit of baby boy clothes, or a one-off unique baby gift for a special occasion such as a family portrait, party, or special outing, come to The Baby Shows and check out the possibilities!

  2. Sleepsuit, babygrow or night gown - to keep her warm and snug at night
  3. Baby socks - prevent baby's feet from getting icy cold. Make sure that seams and loose threads are absent as these could cause discomfort to your baby's very tiny toes

  7. Jacket or snowsuit - fantastic for wind and cold weather protection, but always remove when indoors
  8. Vests - great for both summer and winter. In summer they can be used as light clothing or minimal nightwear, in winter they make good insulation under other clothes
  9. A shawl - soft and pliable, shawls mould to fit the shape of your baby keeping her snug and warm through the colder months
  10. Cardigans - adjust your baby's temperature with layers of clothing. Outside it can be very cold, but inside the heat is often quite a contrast and babies can heat up rapidly.
