Kate Giles
Workforce Development & Education Lead for Perinatal Services
I’ve spent over 20 years working in maternity care, starting out as a support worker and working my way up to my current role as Workforce Development & Education Lead for Perinatal Services. Over the years, I’ve worked in just about every area of maternity, and it’s been an incredible journey.
My real passion is supporting women during labour and birth, helping them feel listened to, empowered, and confident in their choices so they can have the best possible experience. I also care deeply about supporting our midwives, especially those who are newly qualified, to feel confident and capable in what they do. When midwives feel supported, they give amazing care and that makes all the difference for families.
I’m also involved in providing training and education to our whole maternity team, both locally and nationally, which helps us all keep learning and improving the care we give.
Outside of work, I’m a proud mum to one daughter, who’s now 23. I had such a positive birth experience with her that I knew right then- THIS is what I want to do with my life!
